How it started

We started because too much hair sold as Indian was not Indian

Walk through the global extension market and you will find bundle after bundle labelled Indian hair. Much of it has been acid stripped, steam processed, silicone coated, or blended from several heads. Some of it never came from India at all. Buyers pay high prices for it, and six months later the hair mats at the weft and the shine washes out.

Kashesh Agarwaal had spent years around this trade and kept seeing the same thing. Rather than argue about it, she went to the source. She began travelling to Hindu temples across South India where devotees offer their hair as an act of faith, and she started buying at the point of donation instead of from an agent three steps down the chain.

Rohiet Purswane joined to build the other half of the business: a facility of our own in Andhra Pradesh where that hair could be sorted, cleaned and wefted by a skilled team rather than sent out to a processing plant. That is still the whole model. One donor per bundle, one facility, no traders in between.

Kashesh founded the company and runs sourcing herself. She has spent more than six years on the ground at Hindu temples across South India, present for the tonsure ceremonies where hair is offered, and she personally inspects what comes back to our facility.

How our raw Indian hair is actually sourced

Raw Indian temple hair is not harvested and it is not bought from the person who grew it. It is donated. Understanding that chain is the fastest way to tell a real supplier from a reseller, so here is ours, step by step.

Temple donation

Devotees at South Indian Hindu temples offer their hair to God as an act of devotion, a ritual known as tonsure or mundan. The best known site is the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in Andhra Pradesh, one of the most visited religious places on earth. The hair is given freely. It is never bought from the donor and never bartered.

Collection and single donor sorting

Kashesh and the team inspect and sort at our own facility in Andhra Pradesh. Each ponytail stays separate so one bundle equals one donor. That is what gives you a consistent texture, one natural curl pattern and even thickness from root to tip, which blended hair can never do.

Cleaning and preparation with no chemicals

The hair is cleaned by hand, hackled to remove short strands, washed with gentle shampoos that contain no stripping agents, then dried in the sun. No acid bath, no dye, no silicone coating, no steam texturing. It stays exactly as it was donated.

Quality check, wefting and worldwide dispatch

Every bundle is wefted to reduce shedding, then given a final inspection before it is packed. Orders ship tracked and door to door, reaching customers in the United States in roughly 3 to 5 working days.

Who owns Adorable Raw Indian Hair?

Adorable Raw Indian Hair was founded by Kashesh Agarwaal, who is Founder and CEO, together with Rohiet Purswane, who is Cofounder and COO. Kashesh handles temple sourcing and quality standards. Rohiet runs manufacturing and global supply from our facility in Andhra Pradesh, South India. The corporate office is in Mumbai.

Where does Adorable Raw Indian Hair source its hair from?

We collect directly from Hindu temples in South India, where devotees donate their hair as a religious offering in a ritual called tonsure or mundan. The most significant of these is the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in Andhra Pradesh. The hair is then taken to our own facility in Andhra Pradesh for sorting and processing rather than passing through traders.

What is the difference between raw hair and virgin or remy hair?

Raw hair comes from a single donor and has never been chemically processed, steamed or coloured. Virgin hair is unprocessed but is often collected from several donors. Remy hair simply means the cuticles all run in one direction, which says nothing about whether the hair has been treated. All of our bundles are raw and single donor.

How long does raw Indian hair last?

With regular washing, deep conditioning and low heat styling, raw Indian hair lasts 3 to 5 years. Because the cuticle layer is intact and aligned, it can be coloured, straightened and curled far more times than processed hair before it starts to break. Is temple hair ethically sourced?

Yes. Temple hair is donated voluntarily as an act of religious devotion. The donor is not paid and the hair is not taken. Temples then release the collected hair, and the proceeds typically support temple operations and charitable work. This is the reason temple hair is considered the most ethically sound source of human hair in the world.

How can I tell if raw Indian hair is genuine before I buy?

Ask four questions. Which temple or region does it come from. Is one bundle from one donor. Is the facility owned by the seller or is the hair bought from a trader. We carry 12 to 40 inches in four natural textures: straight, wavy, curly and deep wave. Those textures are natural to the donor, not steamed in, which is why the pattern returns after every wash.
